World Day or Farmed Animals- TODAY!
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
- Margaret Mead
World Day for Farmed Animals, founded in 1983, happens annually on October 2nd. Falling on the birthday of moral leader Mahatmas Gandhi, an outspoken champion of nonviolence towards animals, this occasion memorializes and advocates for the billions of animals raised and killed for food annually. The date also happens to be the wedding anniversary of Woodstock Sanctuary’s co-founders Jenny Brown & Doug Abel). It will continue until animals are no longer seen as commodities, raised for their flesh and by-products.
To honor World Day for Farmed Animals, last weekend we joined the protest organized by FARM and we co-organized a vigil with NY Farm Animal Save in front a Live Market in Queens, NYC, which was covered in such venues at the New York Daily News.
If you care about the mistreatment of farmed animals, the most effective, selfless and compassionate thing you can do is to go veg. It’s easy!
