Administrative Assistant

Woodstock Farm Sanctuary is one of the nation’s leading refuges for neglected, abused, abandoned and escaped farm animals. We are looking for a highly organized self-starter to be a full-time administrative assistant in our fast paced office.  Must be willing to work at least one weekend day and live (or be willing to move) within commuting distance of zip 12440. Background in animal rights important and must adhere to a vegan lifestyle while on Sanctuary grounds. Valid driver’s license required. Starting salary $13/hour with experience taken into account. 75% of health insurance covered after 3 months + PTO and holidays.

Duties include:

  • Answer phone calls and emails from the public and our vendors (including veterinarians)
  • Assist with external communications such as social media updates
  • Assist with membership/sponsorship/donation acknowledgments
  • Fulfill merchandise orders and track inventory (including assisting with quarterly audits)
  • Assist with packing merchandise and literature for off-site tabling events
  • Assist with event coordination
  • Assist with staffing onsite and offsite events
  • Assist with visitor center preparation and staffing
  • Restock brochures at various locations via mail or drop off
  • Run errands and make post office runs as needed
  • Assist with other admin tasks as needed
  • Assist the Directors as needed
  • Assist with clerical bookkeeping such as making entries
  • Occasional helping out on the farm as needed with barn cleanings and other projects

Skills required are:

  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize are essential
  • Data entry experience; knowledge of Google Docs and databases a plus
  • Word and Excel proficiency
  • General computer knowledge
  • Retail experience including point of sales or cash handling
  • General knowledge of business practices (ability to compose a proper letter, good phone manners, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of website editing (WordPress, HTML)
  • Knowledge of social media best practices
  • General knowledge of animal rights issues and veganism helpful
  • Valid driver’s license with no DUI’s or more than 2 points on license
