Development DirectorDevelopment Director, Woodstock Farm SanctuaryLocation: High Falls NY or New York Metro area Organizational DescriptionWoodstock Farm Sanctuary’s mission is to rescue farmed animals and give them care and sanctuary, connect animals with people to advance veganism, and advocate for animal rights in alliance with other social justice movements.Job OverviewThe Development Director will implement a strategy to grow annual contributed income of 2-3 million annually while working with a professional Board and reporting to the Executive Director. This is a management position that will supervise Development Associate and Database Administrator. The Development Director needs to be a team player who works well with all other managers and staff. This is a direct donor engagement position with a focus on major gifts and annual fund. Must have an ability and willingness to travel regionally and nationally.Key Responsibilities IncludeCreate and implement development strategies to sustain and increase major gifts, annual membership support, online giving, event sponsorship, and foundation grants.Collaboration with Executive Director and Board to identify, cultivate, and solicit donors in the region, in NYC, and nationally.Manage donor stewardship efforts to deepen relationships and educate donors on the impact of gifts.Work closely with and supervise Development Associate and Database Administrator to mentor their progress and shared revenue goals.Formalize prospect management processes to maximize giving and increase contact between leadership prospects and donors and the Sanctuary staff and board members. Hit monthly contact goals as determined in conjunction with the Executive Director.Lead philanthropic communications efforts including messaging for online giving and annual appeals, and the creation of support materials for specific projects. Audiences for such proposals include major gifts prospects and foundation funders.QualificationsExperience in animal protection causes preferredFive to seven years of fundraising and management requiredAbility to develop and implement a comprehensive resource development plan that is sustainableSuperior oral and written communications skills, with experience creating successful written donor communications and marketing materialsSuperb organization skills; detail oriented with strong follow-throughFirm commitment to the mission and principles of Woodstock Farm Sanctuary including veganismProficiency in database management and systems managementAn openness and enthusiasm around social justice movements and intersectionalityWillingness and ability to travel nationallyThis is a full-time position and ideally working on location here at the sanctuary but being based in NYC or the NYC metro areas is workable. Must have access to transportation and able to commute to the sanctuary every week for 2-3 days and as needed.
