Marketing and Communications Manager Woodstock Farm Sanctuary is seeking a Marketing and Communications Manager Woodstock Farm Sanctuary rescues and provides shelter and care to farmed animals, as well as helps connect animals with people to advance veganism. We are a vegan organization and the person filling this position should embrace this lifestyle to represent our mission. The Marketing and Communications Manager will report to the Executive Director and work closely with the Development Manager, Shelter Manager, and collaboratively with other team members across departments to help get Woodstock Sanctuary’s media presence to a new level. Duties Planning Create long-and short-terms communications plans Create and maintain systems to improve institutional memory and enhance access Create a process and pipeline for all external communications Build upon standards around the Sanctuary’s identity and style Co-coordinate work with in-house and outsourced designers Set and meet metrics and benchmarks around touches, TOS, conversions, etc., in social media and other forms of media Social Media Coordinate communications plans and campaigns to maximize mission impact through leveraging social media Create, edit, manage and post content according to schedules and long and short term plans, and maintain the agility to be opportunistic as well Moderate comment threads on active posts and respond to messages promptly Implement strategies to increase social media presence and to track results and impact Familiarity across platforms and ability to train other staff in platforms Print Media Co-create content for signage, brochures, flyers, rack cards, and other marketing materials Do basic design where templates exist Advertising and Promotions Coordinate with vendors to promote sanctuary programs, events and education Direct advertising campaigns and the creation of individual advertisements Maintain and update segmented list of advertising resources to be targeted for various initiatives Website Management Update site’s backlog of dated content Create plan to keep website fresh and up-to-date Manage and execute new content, new pages, images and updates daily Coordinate with vendors around back-end capacity, SEO, etc. Ability to train interns and staff in website management Earned Media Cultivate press relationships Create both general and targeted, item-specific press kits Maintain and update database of contacts Draft press releases and co-coordinate earned media engagement Strategically leverage Woodstock Farm Sanctuary messaging, programs, rescues and victories to get prompt earned media coverage in local, regional, and national outlets Requirements Qualifications 4-year degree in related field or applicable experience At least three years direct experience in marketing and external communications, preferably in nonprofit advocacy or social justice Demonstrated ability to manage each facet of the communications plan Ability to hire, supervise and mentor an assistant and intern at any given time Skills Excellent writer with skills in copy, marketing, blog, social media, and press release writing styles Skills in fundraising and appeal writing is a plus Extremely tech and systems savvy, familiarity with Salesforce, Mailchimp, Formstack, Classy Basic graphic design background a plus Ability to train staff and manage others and projects as needed High level of organizational skills and ability to shift seamlessly and quickly from project to project in order to meet multiple deadlines Database knowledge Strong copy editing and proof reading skills Ability to maintain and expand on our creative and quirky brand identity through all media streams This is a full-time, non-exempt position. Woodstock Sanctuary prefers the Marketing and Communications Manager work onsite, but we are open to discussing remote work with the right candidate, such that relocation for distant applicants may not be necessary. Candidates for a remote position must be within commuting distance of High Falls NY (no more than 3-4 hours). Candidates must have access to transportation and the ability to travel as needed. This position requires standing and sitting for hours at a time, interacting with farmed animals, and moving around the large Sanctuary property for tours and media visits.
