Part Time Custodial Worker

Woodstock Farm Sanctuary is seeking a PT Custodial Worker

Woodstock Farm Sanctuary provides shelter to cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, sheep, goats, and rabbits who have been rescued from cases of abuse, neglect and abandonment. At the heart of our mission is the work of rescuing, rehabilitating and caring for farmed animal refugees. 

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Clean and maintain office and commercial spaces on the property including residential lodges, commercial kitchen, and banquet hall.
  • Set up/dismantle and safely store chairs, tables, and other sanctuary property before/after events and the visitor season.
  • Operate and maintain basic equipment such as floor buffer and some commercial kitchen equipment and perform manual labor tasks.
  • Occasional seasonal maintenance including leaf-raking, snow clearing, seasonal organizing of storage buildings.
  • Clean, dust, and wipe furniture; sweep, mop, or vacuum floors; empty/clean wastebaskets and trash containers; replace light bulbs; refill restroom dispensers.
  • Lock and unlock assigned buildings: secure building when facilities are not in use.

Required Skills:

  • Basic custodial skills to include sweeping and mopping, care, maintenance and safe operation of mechanical equipment including a floor buffer and some commercial kitchen equipment,
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers and the general public
  • Skill in assessing and prioritizing multiple tasks, projects and demands with good time management
  • Ability to work safely and compassionately around animals in our medical building (no direct animal care experience necessary or required for this job).
  • Adhere to sanctuary mission and policies while on-site (including adhering to vegan diet while on-site and maintaining a respectful and compassionate relationship with other staff and our rescued animal residents).

Qualifications:

  • Work involves moderate physical demands; must be able to lift up to 40 lbs
  • A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is preferred
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • At least 1 year prior custodial experience or equivalent preferred

This is a part-time, year-round position. It requires availability at least some weekend hours throughout the tour season, April 1 – October 31, as well as some weekdays most weeks around which Woodstock Sanctuary can be flexible. During the off-season after November, hours may reduce to 15/week and the days can be more flexible.
