Opal

OpalWeb500px

Opal came to us in September of 2012 from a hoarding case involving over 100 chickens, ducks, and turkeys. The birds were living in squalor, and many were being kept in a filthy house reeking of feces and urine. They were intensely overcrowded and overbred, leading to some serious medical conditions. Opal was missing a toe and very skinny when she arrived.

Now a free roamer by day, this little lady is a talkative, social butterfly. She’s not shy about telling our caregiving staff when she’s ready to go outside, squawking incessantly until she is sent off on her day’s adventure. Visitors admire the radiant black feathers and free spirit of this unforgettable girl.
