Jean was being raised for slaughter for Thanksgiving 2013. Luckily for her and us, a kind soul rescued her (along with Tomoko and Loren) and brought her to Woodstock Sanctuary. Jean still shows the signs of an early life of pain and suffering with her missing toes and scarred beak, but here at the sanctuary she is finally allowed to stretch her wings and wander around as she grows into her unique turkey personality. She also gets to be a lucky ambassador for the millions of other turkeys who’ve had a different fate.
Jean is named for our long-time volunteer extraordinaire, Jean Rhode, who was a recipient of one of our Good Egg awards at ThanksLiving 2013.
