Based on Margaret’s age and breed, she was likely being raised for slaughter for Thanksgiving dinner…until she somehow escaped. She was found wandering in a nearby town—alone, scared, and very thin. She must have been without a home or food for weeks. Because of her brown coloring, people had mistaken her for a wild-born turkey and she wouldn’t have survived much longer on her own. But luckily, a kind person saw that she was frightened and vulnerable to hunters and predators, so she called Woodstock Sanctuary.

Margaret is now safe with us. She is already extremely curious and friendly, and has taken a liking to perching on her window and watching the snow fall!
