It’s that time of year! In the Catskills the leaves are threatening to change, there’s a crispness to the evening air, and we’re going crazy getting ready for our biggest, swankest, most talked-about event of the year: THANKSLIVING.

Our ninth annual banquet is set to land on Sunday, October 12th, at noon. This is our most important fundraiser of the year as it raises essential cash to get us through the long, hard Catskill winter.  READ ABOUT LAST YEAR’S EVENT.

Guest Chef Rachel Klein

Although not certified by Guinness, this annual tradition of the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary is certainly the world’s largest all-vegan seated meal ever served in a goat pasture. Our heated tent holds 250 people from as local as Woodstock to as far away as Vermont and Pennsylvania, all to enjoy a gourmet vegan Thanksgiving-themed dinner—where our rescued turkeys are the guests of honor instead of the main course!

Before guests sit down to eat we celebrate our rescued turkey friends by feeding them pumpkin pies, stuffed squash and other goodies. Humans are welcome to participate in this rather messy and hilarious undertaking!

Miss Rachel PantryThis year’s guest chef is Rachel Klein of the Philly-based Miss Rachel’s Pantry

Funds raised from ticket sales are essential for helping the Sanctuary get through the long Catskills winter, when hay and other costs skyrocket. The event is held more than a month before the traditional Thanksgiving holiday to take full advantage of the gorgeous leaves and warmer weather, and to give attendees ideas to take back to family and friends for their own meatless celebration.

Live music, a silent auction and close encounters with over 300 rescued farm animals will round out a memorable afternoon.

For the car-challenged NYC-types we’re timing it so you can take a bus!  And we encourage ride-sharing via the website Ridejoy.com.

The event starts at 12:30pm and you can arrive as early as 11:30, but please not before that as we’ll still be in our bathrobes and hair curlers!

Gluten free? We got your back — but we need to know as far as possible in advance, so please make a note on the order form when you pay for the tickets.

Thanks to Loren Brown for once again curating the silent auction, raffle, and goodie bag items. Her hard work and good taste keeps the quality so high!
