Lucky chicks Panther and Freedom Author: Doug Abel | Tuesday, July 15, 2014 | No comments We received a frantic e-mail from a supporter and friend Chloé Jo Davis who had just learned that her son’s school did a chick-hatching project in class. As often happens they didn’t secure a safe home for the young chicks, who need life-long care and a commitment to their well-being. We were able to accept them but most chicks aren’t so lucky–they end up abandoned or sent back to the supplying hatchery or farm, where they are killed. Hatching projects do not teach good lessons — most importantly, compassion. Read more on our page regarding classroom hatching projects here.
