Rooftop Solstice Party Follow-Up Author: Doug Abel | Thursday, June 21, 2012 | No comments Carrie Alton has fun kissing Ralphie in our farm photo cut-out On Thursday, June 14th, about 130 people filed into Williamsburg’s Aurora Lampworks for a rooftop party to benefit the critters of Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary. Music and fine conversation filled the air on a perfect late spring night. Read Coverage in the Wall Street Journal and a wonderfully detailed article at CLLCTV The all vegan cuisine, provided by Blossom du Jour both comforted and amazed. Guests wolfed down Smokey Avocado Wraps, Little Italy ‘Meatball’ Subs, ‘Chicken’ Salad Wraps with Cranberries & Green Apple, Spicy Buffalo Bites with Caesar Dressing, and Organic Field Greens with Chickpeas and Herbed Mustard Dressing. Wine, beer and sangria and special cocktails like “The Red Rooster” were poured. Dancers from Cynthia King Dance Studio put on a jaw-dropping show right there on the roof. Maurice Malcolm, Jr., tap-danced his heart out, then an all-female troupe followed by the B-Boy Crew defied gravity and delighted onlookers. People crowded around a grill and made ‘smores from vegan marshmallows and graham crackers. Partygoers took advantage of our silly “take your picture next to Ralphie the steer” prop, and hula-hoops were available for the coordinated and non-coordinated alike. Amanda Turk and Natalia Perlaza played Middle Eastern percussion towards the end of the evening, and Derek Goodwin and Amanda showed off their fire dancing skills. Major thanks to Dawn Ladd and Aurora Lampworks for hosting this event, and to Eva Orlowski, Nancy Pearson, Cynthia King, Tricia Bastian, Elana Kirshenbaum and Jennifer Abbots for making it all happen… and to the wonderful volunteers who helped make the night a success! Thanks also to Pamela Blackwell of Blossom du Jour for donating a feast for the eyes and belly, The Vegan Vine for donating wine, Neumarkter Lammsbraeu for providing organic beer, Vegan Divas & Lucky Chocolates for an array of chocolatey things, Sweet and Sara for marshmallows and graham crackers for ‘smores, Dandies for even more marshmallows (we didn’t run out!), and Vegan Divas for delicious chocolate mousse. Plus to Derek Goodwin for his photographing, fire-dancing ways.
