Volunteer Instruction Page

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us!  Your help is so appreciated!

Our volunteer day starts with an orientation promptly at 10:30am and runs through 3:00pm — please arrive 15 min early so that we can start on time.  Each person in your group should complete the volunteer waiver prior to arriving for your shift.

Please email us at volunteer@woodstocksanctuary.org to let us know if you are planning to leave earlier than 3pm so that we can plan the tasks for the day accordingly.

When you arrive, please follow the main road about a half of a mile to the Visitor Parking lot (map below), which is a big open field on your left just past the fencing for the Goat & Sheep pasture.  Continue following the road on foot to the building designated as “Visitor Center.”  The entrance to the Volunteer Center door is the left-hand side of the building.

Here are a few tips for planning your visit:

You will want to wear rugged boots and clothes that are appropriate for the weather. These should be items that you do not mind getting dirty or stained.  You may also want to bring sunglasses or a hat since most of the work is outside. You are welcome to use our facilities to change into a fresh set of clothes (and shoes!) for the car-ride home.  Finally, we encourage you to bring a brown bag lunch and/or snacks, and a water bottle. Please do not include meat, eggs or dairy out of respect for the animals who call the sanctuary their home.

If you need accommodations, please check out our overnight accommodations page for places that we recommend in the area.

*****    Please note that we changed the name of the road going into the Sanctuary grounds a few years back.  Our official address is 2 Rescue Road,  High Falls, NY 12440, and while most online maps and GPS are correct, some GPS only recognize the old address which is 6 Epworth Lane.  *****
