Jenné Claiborne is a vegan chef and the creator of Sweet Potato Soul, a cooking and lifestyle blog and Youtube channel. Her passion for food began when she was growing up in Atlanta, GA. She is a former private chef, and studied nutrition at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. She has been featured on NBC’s Today Show, in VegNews Magazine, BET, Refinery 29, Well + Good, Greatist, and many other publications. Her cookbook, “Sweet Potato Soul” is coming out in February 2018! Isabelle Steichen grew up in Luxembourg and transitioned from an omnivore, cheese loving life to a plant-based diet after she moved to NYC a couple years ago. Her decision was triggered by environmental, ethical as well as health reasons. She is passionate about veganism and health and has a plant-based nutrition certificate from e-Cornell. The Plantiful is her blog/podcast and creative outlet that she uses to share her love for all things plant-based. Isabelle is also a certified yoga teacher with focus on restorative. During the day, she works at a small Brooklyn based tech startup and at night she follows her passion for all things vegan. 1-2:30 PM Local vegans from power rock band REAL THINGS and their solo music projects Guilt Mountain and HOT TEMPER will be playing some tunes in the afternoon! REAL THINGS is the trio of Tara Pelletier, Jeff Kurosaki and Kate Larson. They formed between Brooklyn and Upstate NY, marrying 90s revival and grungy, power rock stylings. 2:30 PM The VeganMos will present a cooking demo and book signing for their new cookbook, NYC Vegan! As self-trained cooks, Michael and Ethan are food lovers who show how vegan food can taste just as good as non-vegan dishes and how eliminating animal products from your diet does not mean you can’t enjoy New York City’s iconic foods. NYC Vegan brings New York’s fabulous foods to the plant-based table. The book was written by native New Yorkers as a tribute to the city they love. From the diners and delis of Brooklyn to the traditions of Little Italy and Chinatown, the foods of New York are the foods of the world. Drop in at 11 AM & 3 PM yoga sessions for all ages/skill levels (BYO yoga mat!) with LJ of the Philly Vegan Lady Gang! LJ Steinig has been practicing yoga for nearly 20 years, and has practiced almost as many styles. As a yoga instructor since 2005, she specializes in gentle yoga and yoga for beginners. In LJ’s class, expect a lighthearted approach and a whimsical attitude as she guides you through a series of delicious stretches designed to get you moving consciously and feeling good. Brooklyn Nurse Practitioners will be running a table throughout the event answering questions about plant-based health and nutrition! BNP is a comprehensive primary care clinic dedicated to providing the best care possible to patients through a multi-faceted, plant-based approach to healthcare. Delicious vegan food, snacks and soft-serve from these incredible vegan food trucks and vendors. We are thrilled to announce that the Cinnamon Snail truck (see their vegan BEASTMODE burger to the right) and Little Apple from Woodstock will be joining us for the event!
