Recap: NYC Pride March

Woodstock Farm Sanctuary came out in force for the NYC Pride March on June 25th, 2017.

The theme this year was “we are proud,” and Woodstock Farm Sanctuary was so incredibly proud to have such an engaged and powerful group of marchers in our first official pride march contingent this year.

60 powerful animal advocates joined us for a day of public celebration and to recognize the ongoing struggle of our LGBTQIA community and to encourage our allies to go vegan and consider
the plight of farmed animals in that struggle. Our group chanted, “human dignity, animal rights: one struggle, one fight!” and encouraged the crowd to go vegan as we marched past hundreds of thousands of spectators along Fifth Avenue.

Woodstock Farm Sanctuary’s executive director Rachel McCrystal, and our board member Ethan Ciment and his husband Michael Suchman (aka, “The VeganMos”) marched alongside partners from VoNY (Vegans of New York) led by co-founders Jill Carnegie and Marc S Wood. Honey LaBronx, the Vegan Drag Queen, looked fabulous in faux pearls marching alongside the gorgeous Gógó Starr. Animal-rights activist and volunteer Joe energized the crowd and led the way down the march route, and we were joined by sanctuary staff members, volunteers, and community leaders and activists.

Woodstock Farm Sanctuary was honored to participate in this year’s March as we continue our work to build a peaceful world rooted in respect and justice for our LGBTQ+ community and all living beings.

We hope to see you all next year!
