Dani
Dani and her sisters Amy and Sophie were rescued in 2015 from a corporate turkey farm at just three months old. Like the 46 million turkeys who are killed every year for Thanksgiving, Dani’s toes were cut off at the joint and she was de-beaked – extremely cruel, but normal practices in the industry, all done without any pain relief or anesthetic.
When Dani first arrived to Woodstock Sanctuary, she was scared. But thanks to the daily love, care, and compassion from our shelter team, Dani learned quickly that she could be her bold, talkative self.
Dani can be found enjoying her days with her friend Zillah. Once a timid, fearful turkey, she is now the most social of the flock and will walk right up to you and say hello.
