What A Stay at The Gray Barn Looks Like

Did you know that we have our very own on-site inn at the Sanctuary?

You can book a stay at our award-winning vegan inn, The Gray Barn. And yes, it is just as magical as it sounds. Picture this: you wake up to sounds of wild birds outside your window and that sweet golden light is pouring into your gorgeous minimal room, illuminating the walls. Across from your bed is a heart-warming canvas picture of Curly, a rescued pig who lives at the Sanctuary, who you plan on meeting later during a guided tour. Even better, your room is named after this sweet girl, and you know that your stay supports her and her friends’ everyday care. You leap out of bed, full of excitement, and head downstairs following the delicious smell of a homemade vegan breakfast by our Hospitality Coordinator Rena. On the counter are egg-free quiches made with local tomatoes and spinach—they look incredible next to the bowl of fresh fruit. You gather your breakfast along with a steaming mug of Brewing Good coffee and head up to eat this heavenly meal on your very own balcony overlooking the Tiniest Herd pasture. You spot Raymond and Tova out and about grazing on the dewy grass; the view is truly unreal. Above their pasture you can also see the Mohonk Mountain House as well as the Shawangunk Ridge, the rolling hills and evergreen trees really encapsulating the beauty that is the Hudson Valley. You’re excited to take on the day.

This is only a short snippet of what a dreamy vacation at The Gray Barn looks like, and the possibilities of adventure are truly endless when you’re here! The best part of all of this? Every single booking supports our rescued residents as well as our mission and advocacy work. Now that is something you don’t get with a lot of other vacation spots. Want to help even more during your stay? You can actually schedule a volunteer shift while you’re here! Although it can be dirty work, volunteering is such a great and fun way to spend the day with the animals, see what sanctuary work looks like behind barn doors, and connect with other animal activists! Plus, volunteering makes for the perfect group activity if you’re staying with friends or family.
