EDUCATION + OUTREACH INTERN

Woodstock Farm Sanctuary is seeking an Education + Outreach Intern!

Internship Overview 

The Education and Outreach Internship is an opportunity to engage with Woodstock Sanctuary’s education and advocacy work. Interns will learn about a vital part of our work: promoting a strong vegan message to our visitors and supporters. The Sanctuary hosts several thousand visitors every year, and the education team is responsible for making sure that visitors understand our mission and feel inspired to make positive change for the animals.

Interns will gain experience in advocating for animals to the public, and educating adults and children about the realities of animal agriculture on public tours and at special events. Interns will also have the opportunity to learn about and participate in advocacy campaigns.

This internship is a good fit for someone who is interested in working in animal advocacy or the field of humane education in the future

Duties and Responsibilities

Specific tasks will vary based on time of year and department needs.

  • Participating in public tour days by shadowing tours, answering questions, helping with crowd control, and facilitating safe interactions between the public and our animal residents

  • Tabling at community events such as farmers markets and Vegfests alongside staff and volunteers

  • Identifying new outreach opportunities

  • Research and other tasks to support advocacy and education campaigns

Experience and Qualifications

  • Strong sense of affinity with the mission and goals of Woodstock Sanctuary

  • Customer service or experience working with the public helpful

Skills

  • Friendly and outgoing with strong communication skills

  • Basic computer skills and experience with online research

  • Must be a good team player

End Date

Minimum commitment of 3 months

Schedule

Between 16 and 25 hours per week, depending on intern’s needs. Weekly schedule depends on the time of year and may vary from week to week. All Saturdays during public tour season and some Sundays required based on events and time of year.

Weekly Cost of Living Reimbursement

  • 24-30 hours: $75 per week

  • 16-23 hours: $50 per week

*Reimbursements are given on a bi-weekly basis via checks
