George

In the fall of 2015, multiple sanctuaries rescued over 120 animals from a backyard butcher in Montgomery, NY.  These poor animals were kept in horrendous conditions — crammed in barns with little food and living space. Woodstock Sanctuary took in five sheep, six pigs and nine goats. George and his sister Dorothy Jo were rescued with their mother Freyja, who sadly is no longer with us.

Living most of his life in sanctuary, George is a very gregarious sheep. He loves to come over when you enter the sheep pasture, saying hello and putting his head on your shoulder for cuddles. He also loves to put his hoof and leg up on your leg if you’re kneeling down – it's basically his handshake! George’s cute face and big fluff make him hard to forget.
