MIKEY
On the evening of April 10, 2012, a calf made a break from a slaughterhouse in Paterson, NJ. He eluded capture for hours and even waded into the Passaic River. Police used vehicles to ram into the calf in an effort to bring him under control until a tranquilizer gun could be obtained. The story was picked up by local news and in the segment the slaughterhouse owner said he would release the calf to an unspecified farm. A volunteer of Woodstock Farm Sanctuary persuaded them to allow the terrified young steer to be released to us instead – and the rest is history!
Mikey is more of a cow’s cow, in the sense that he is shyer with human interaction. While he may be very big in stature, he is a sweetie on the inside – he loves getting back scratches from our Shelter Director Hervé! After saving his own life, Mikey gets to enjoy his days roaming the pasture with his friends.
