Ari
A fraternal lodge in New Jersey was raising Ari to be killed for a “pig roast.” It is heartbreaking that people could meet Ari as a sweet 10-week-old piglet and see him as food. But somehow Ari escaped — maybe someone felt mercy and let him out the door. He ran through the woods until a wildlife rehabilitator was able to catch him and take him to the local shelter. They cared for him while we arranged for veterinary inspection so Ari could cross state lines. Tiny Ari arrived in a dog crate in the back of a car. He quickly began warming up to the love and attention of our caregivers, safe at last.
Ari now enjoys his days rooting around his pasture with his best friend Rudy. The pair can be seen constantly smiling and loudly snorting, especially when a caregiver approaches! Their pasture is a regular stop for visitors, and they love the attention! Ari’s happiness reminds us of how deeply all animals feel, that we all want to be free and loved.
