Stanley

In the fall of 2010, a woman spotted a young pig running down the road in the darkness of night. She went back the next day and was able to lure him safely into a laundry basket (the only item she had) and bring him to her house. She then reached out to us to see if we could provide him a forever home.

Shortly after Stanley arrived, he bonded with the Sanctuary’s senior pigs, as he was still so small and gentle. Stanley has truly defied the odds and now may be one of the oldest large pigs out there! He spent many years napping beside his roommate and best friend Olive, who sadly passed in 2025. He still occasionally explores his pasture for any special snacks and chats with the other senior pigs. Stanley saved his life and escaped the fate of being killed for human consumption, another rescue story proving that all animals, including farmed ones, want to live.
