Sherman
In 2019, a supporter of the Woodstock Sanctuary found Sherman just outside of a live-kill market, where animals are crammed into cages before being killed at a young age for meat. This person saved Sherman from immediate danger, then reached out to us for help. When Sherman arrived, we were heartbroken by all he had gone through. He was quickly provided veterinary care and testing for all the illnesses and parasites he would have been exposed to.
After experiencing the filthy, crowded, and inhumane conditions of a live-kill market, we’re so happy that Sherman can live peacefully in sanctuary. He quickly bonded with two rabbits, Isabel and Leah, who he could be found snuggling and digging beside. Sadly, both friends have passed away, but we knew sweet Sherman needed companions. In late 2024, we were able to welcome a bonded pair of bunnies who we named Glinda and Elphaba. They were slowly introduced to Sherman and, luckily, they began to bond! These three now cuddle inside the barn and run around their outdoor space together. We are so relieved. Sometimes the three will line up in a row to share breakfast!
