Dani

Dani and two friends, Amy and Sophie, were rescued from a turkey farm in 2015 when they were only a couple months old. Like so many of the 46 million turkeys who are killed every year for Thanksgiving, Dani’s toes were cut off at the joint and she was de-beaked – extremely cruel, but normal practices in the industry, all done without any pain relief or anesthetic.

When Dani first arrived at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, she was scared. But thanks to the daily love, care, and compassion from our shelter team, Dani learned quickly that she was safe to be her bold, talkative self. Once a timid, fearful turkey, she is now quite social and will walk right up to you and say hello.

Remarkably, Dani is still thriving at an advanced age for a Broad Breasted White turkey. Amy and Sophie have sadly passed away due to complications of elder age, but Dani now enjoys her days alongside her best friend Zillah, who also acts as her protector!
