20 Years of Woodstock!

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Woodstock Farm Sanctuary! We are incredibly grateful for everyone who has made this possible and we are excited to reflect, celebrate, and save more lives with you in 2024. All year long it’s going to be 20 Years of Woodstock! And we wouldn’t be Woodstock Sanctuary if we weren’t also making big new plans to help more farmed animals and reach more people to advocate for a just world for all living beings.

Our sanctuary recap

From 2004 to 2024, we have welcomed over 3000 animals to our sanctuary in Upstate New York and helped save many thousands more. Those 3000 cows, pigs, chickens, ducks, sheep, goats, turkeys, mules, horses, guinea fowl, and yes, even one special llama named Dolly, have lived lives of dignity and joy that they never would have been able to experience otherwise.

We have traveled around the country to rescue farmed animals from abuse, neglect, and death, and collaborated with dozens of rescue and advocacy partners from as far away as Ukraine and as close as our own town of High Falls, NY. Tens of thousands of people have taken our Public Education Tours at the Sanctuary and hundreds of thousands have been impacted by our education and advocacy campaigns around the world. And every year, we reach millions of people with our messaging and stories. We hope you’ll agree that our impact is huge even if we are not.

So much has changed in the world since we started in 2004. In 2004, some of our team members were still in elementary school, Facebook was launched as a college social site, and our oldest resident Dino the pig was just a tiny piglet. We have since grown and learned so much. But our heart and mission remain constant—save lives, educate, advocate, and wake up every day, in all sorts of weather and hardship, to care for the incredible animals who live with us. They are the heart of what we do, and they inspire us to keep going. We hope that as we celebrate and share more about 20 Years of Woodstock, you’ll get to know many of them better—both those that are still with us and those who we carry in our hearts forever.
