6 Ways To Show Love To The Animals

Valentine’s Day may be over, but there are still so many ways to celebrate the month of love, especially for the rescued animals here at Woodstock Sanctuary!

Here are six ways you can show love to the Sanctuary and animals in February, and all year round!

Help our rescued birds by giving to our avian vet bills

Here at Woodstock there are currently 228 birds in our care and just like any other rescued resident, we know each one of them as individuals and provide the best care we can to every bird. Our avian vet bills have gone up in the last month due to multiple birds needing attentative care—can you help us cover costs and not fall behind on our bills?

One of the rescued residents you’re helping is little Loop—he has cancerous modules in his lungs, which he was diagnosed with in May of 2021. He needs all the care he can receive right now and donating to our avian vet bills would greatly help us in helping him! Show your love for the birds by clicking here and giving a gift to Loop and his friends.

Sign up for a volunteer shift and help the operations of Woodstock Sanctuary

One fun, interactive way that folks can show their love and support is to volunteer at the Sanctuary! Volunteering is such rewarding work—not only are you able to witness what it means to run a larger sanctuary like ours, but you’re able to meet the incredible residents who are now living out their lives in peace among their friends and family. Oh, did we mention a perk of volunteering is also showing affection to these sweet animals?? There’s nothing like a pig belly rub right after cleaning up the barns. Click here to volunteer and meet residents like Olive!

Book a stay at The Gray Barn and give back to the animals

Who said supporting animals can’t be glamorous? If you’re new to what we do, you may not have “herd” that we have an award-winning inn right onsite called The Gray Barn! This gorgeous modern building was built in 2019 thanks to the generous foundation as a sustainable source of financial support for the rescued animals.

That’s right, you could plan out a dreamy vacation at our sanctuary where you can stay in a room named after legacy residents like Albie the goat, enjoy your own private terrace overlooking the Shawankgunk ridge, and have a delicious vegan breakfast every morning. Sound like a dream come true? Show your love for the animals by clicking here to book a stay!

Become a member of Woodstock Sanctuary for 2023

A super fun way to support the work we do here at Woodstock is to become a member! A membership gives you special perks like discounts at your favorite vegan restaurants and shops, free tours during our visiting season, and more. Right now we’re giving the love back to every new member by giving out a special members-only magnet! Want to join this exclusive club? Click here to become a member!

Sponsor a rescued resident

As you already know, we have A LOT of incredible rescued animals here at the Sanctuary, many of whom you can support on a monthly (or yearly) basis! We always have some residents who have lots of sponsors, but there are still so many amazing (and adorable) residents to choose from that need the extra love like Max the cow, Marsha the pig, or Poly the tiny sheep!

Sponsorships are a great way to help cover medical costs, food, and housing maintenance for an individual resident you love and especially connect with. A really sweet part about sponsoring too is the fact that you’re able to have the option to have your official sponsorship certificate mailed directly to your house which has the specific resident’s rescue story along with a very cute photo of them you can hang on your fridge or frame for your desk. Want to show some love to a resident you’re fond of? Click here to become their sponsor!

Shop our Sanctuary merch and give back to the animals

Wait, supporting animals can be fashionable? If you don’t already know, we have an entire store full of fun merch inspired by our residents that you can look through and shop from! This is a great way to give back to the animals while taking home a special tote bag or tee that you’ll cherish for years to come. A plus? All of our products are made from materials that are kind to our planet, animals, and the people who make them, like organic cotton and recycled ink. We also make sure to support our local community by getting our apparel printed locally in the Hudson Valley.

Shop with purpose, and show some love to the animals, by checking out our Sanctuary Store! Click here to see our amazing Woodstock collection and treat yourself to a mug, or two!
