Nanci
In June 2026, we learned of sweet little Nanci. Nanci the Muscovy Duck was hit by a car and was so injured that she couldn’t walk, so she just lay on the side of the road. While she lay there in pain, she was noticed by teenagers who began to harass her. Luckily a kind person immediately intervened and saved her. Realizing she needed a lot of help, they got her to a friend who took care of her for several months, wrapping her hurt leg, and treating her with kindness.
But her new friends couldn’t keep Nanci—she needed a lifelong home with other ducks and lots of outdoor space. They reached out to us, and we quickly welcomed Nanci to sanctuary. She may still be new to life in Sanctuary, but little Nanci is really settling in! She has such a kind demeanor and the cutest little face! Her quarantine period has ended, and she was recently introduced to a group of fellow rescued ducks. She was so excited and very chatty! She seems to really enjoy the company of fellow Muscovies Gala and Bailey.
