Sassy

In the fall of 2015, multiple sanctuaries rescued over 120 animals from a backyard butcher in Montgomery, New York. These poor animals were kept in horrendous conditions — crammed in barns with little to no food. Woodstock Sanctuary took in five sheep, six pigs, and nine goats. Most of the goats had pneumonia, lice, and worms and little did we know, a few were also pregnant.

A few months later, Sassy the goat went into labor, welcoming little Lucie and Tuesday into the world. She was such an amazing mom, and we are so grateful these little ones were able to grow up alongside her, a rare experience for farmed animals.

Sassy gets to spend every day with her family. Sassy is, well, like her name, sassy, and very social. She loves a good head and back scratch from anyone who is willing. She has such bright, inquisitive eyes and tiny soft ears.
