Dorothy Jo
In the fall of 2015, multiple sanctuaries rescued over 120 animals from a backyard butcher in Montgomery, New York. These poor animals were kept in horrendous conditions — crammed in barns with little to no food. Woodstock Sanctuary took in five sheep, six pigs, and nine goats. Dorothy Jo and her brother George were rescued that day, along with their mother Freyja.
Sadly, Freyja is no longer with us, but her children continue to thrive together in sanctuary. Dorothy Jo is a vigilant sheep. She is one of the shyer members of the sheep flock — while George is very brave and curious of his human companions. We often see Dorothy Jo by the side of her brother, looking to him for comfort and protection. The pair are inseparable, and we love that here in sanctuary they will spend their entire lives together.
