George
In the fall of 2015, multiple sanctuaries rescued over 120 animals from a backyard butcher in Montgomery, New York. These poor animals were kept in horrendous conditions — crammed in barns with little to no food. Woodstock Sanctuary took in five sheep, six pigs, and nine goats. George and his sister Dorothy Jo were rescued that day, along with their mother Freyja.
Sadly, Freyja is no longer with us, but her children continue to thrive together in sanctuary. George is a very gregarious sheep. He loves to come over when you enter the sheep pasture, saying hello and putting his head on your shoulder for cuddles. He also loves to put his hoof and leg up on your leg if you’re kneeling down – it's basically his handshake! George’s cute face and big fluff make him hard to forget. He looks out for his shyer sister Dorothy Jo, and the two remain inseparable.
