Thelma and Louise
In February 2025, we learned of two adult sheep who had been wandering a nearby neighborhood. As we began to search for this bonded pair, we found out that these brave sheep had been out on their own since the previous November! They had escaped from a terrible slaughterhouse situation, and somehow survived out in the ice and snow for months. While we worked to gain their trust, some kind people in the neighborhood where the sheep sought shelter made sure they have food and water. Finally, with a lot of help, we were able to bring them to safety and warmth.
After being treated for multiple health issues, they finally left quarantine, and were jumping for joy as their hooves touched the grass. They settled in with their new herd quickly, though they remain close friends. They are so curious about their surroundings and we are endlessly happy that they can now relax, form friendships, and roam the Sanctuary safely.
