Lesley

It was nearing Thanksgiving Day in 2022, when we learned of three baby turkeys, all only months old and days away from being slaughtered to be someone’s holiday dinner. When Lesley, Drew, and Monisha arrived at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary, we were saddened to see that they had already been debeaked and de-toed—painful, permanent mutilations that are common practices in farming and often done without anesthetic. Our care staff swooped in to give them immediate and necessary medical treatment. Tragically, despite incredible efforts, we lost Monisha due to medical complications. Her memory will live on in her dear friend, Lesley.

Thankfully, Lesley is now doing much better and is safe and happy in her own pasture. We are so thankful we are able to provide Lesley with the love, kindness, and care she deserves. Now two years old, Lesley is an adventurous and social turkey who enjoys her days alongside best friend Drew, exploring the grass, the shade, and — in the warmer months — their pool!
