Volunteering: The Pillar of Sanctuaries

We always talk about how important our volunteers are, and we mean it! What may seem like a small act makes a big impact on the success of sanctuaries like ours. Through the thousands of volunteers who have lent a hand at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary over the past two decades, we’ve been able to elevate the standard of animal care we provide, pave the way for new rescues, and, of course, make barns and coops extra cozy.

But finding all the extra support we need during these winter months can be challenging. The ground is covered in snow and ice, as temperatures drop. Winter is also the busiest season for our team, with staff having to prep and clear out areas that are blocked with snow and our maintenance team making sure the grounds are in top shape and operating amid freeze snaps. These months are when we need the most support

By lending a hand and volunteering, you help our team focus on daily care tasks that are vital to the everyday operation of the Sanctuary. You can be the change you want to see for the animals! We are always looking for reliable volunteers to help clean out barns so rescued animals like cows, goats, and sheep can have an extra comfortable, clean space to rest. Not a fan of being outside? No worries, we have plenty of other volunteering opportunities for individuals looking to help, like our Med Barn support shifts! These are shorter two-hour volunteer shifts that help our Shelter Team ensure all the essential daily needs in the Med Barn are covered so they can focus on care tasks. Examples of a Med Barn support shift may include washing dishes, doing laundry, sweeping, and more.
