Longfellow

In December of 2021, Woodstock Sanctuary rescued 29 animals from a neglected farm in Pennsylvania. Assisting several other sanctuaries and rescues at this horrific site, we agreed to take in a sweet older goat who we would come to name Longfellow. We soon noticed, however, that we couldn’t leave the property without his best friend. Emerson clearly shared a bond with Longfellow and never left his side.

Despite living in terrible conditions and experiencing neglect, both were so friendly toward out Care team. When Longfellow arrived, he was so frail, underweight, and covered in lice. He slowly gained some weight as he began to receive nutritious food for the first time. He is so much healthier now and this dynamic black-and-white duo still shows off their unbreakable bond. Longfellow will often greet you on behalf of himself and his smaller friend. He has an unusual horn that grew in a spiral, due to de-budding practices.
