Marge
In September of 2023, we were informed of a small piglet who had been found alone on an unseasonably warm day. This special little piglet somehow survived a fall from the transport truck and a kind person reached out to us after initially rescuing her. We knew we needed to save this baby, who deserved a chance at a full, happy life. We named this sweet girl Marge.
Just days before Marge’s rescue, we’d learned of another Yorkshire piglet who had escaped the same circumstances. At just five weeks old, Sylvia should have been bonding with her mother and siblings. Instead, she was on her way to a feed yard where she would have gained weight for a few months before slaughter. We immediately brought this little girl home to safety. When we learned about Marge, we knew she needed rescue and care, and that she would also be the perfect companion for baby Sylvia.
Upon their arrival, Sylvia and Marge were both joyful and curious. They bonded right away and loved zooming around in the hay together. In 2024, they grew large enough to move into a different pasture with fellow pig resident, Bunny. Both girls quickly adapted to their new space and choose to stick together. Bunny prefers the solo life, so she does not mind! Sylvia follows Marge everywhere. Marge’s favorite activity is rooting through the grass and dirt in her pasture. We are so excited to watch these inseparable friends grow and thrive in an environment where they will never be seen as a commodity but as the unique and precious individuals they are.
