Lucie

In the fall of 2015, multiple sanctuaries rescued over 120 animals from a backyard butcher in Montgomery, New York. These poor animals were kept in horrendous conditions — crammed in barns with little to no food. Woodstock Sanctuary took in five sheep, six pigs, and nine goats. Most of the goats had pneumonia, lice, and worms and little did we know, a few were also pregnant.

Lucie and her brother Tuesday were born at Woodstock Sanctuary after their mother Sassy came to us from this rescue pregnant. Ten baby goats were born to mothers from this backyard butcher case and thus, The Tiniest Herd was formed! It was such a sweet time at the Sanctuary with so many baby goats around.

Years later, Lucie gets to spend every day with her brother and mother. Lucie is a social goat with the sweetest smile, and she loves to greet visitors and caregivers from her cozy pasture.
