Ruby
In the fall of 2015, multiple sanctuaries rescued over 120 animals from a backyard butcher in Montgomery, New York. These poor animals were kept in horrendous conditions — crammed in barns with little to no food. Woodstock Sanctuary took in five sheep, six pigs, and nine goats. Most of the goats had pneumonia, lice, and worms and little did we know, a few were also pregnant.
Sweet Ruby came to us from this rescue pregnant and soon, her two beautiful babies—Jackie and Moby—were born in sanctuary and forever safe, a rare but wonderful thing for her to know.
Sadly, Jackie passed away at the age of eight, but Ruby is still thriving alongside her family and friends. She is very close with her sister Stella (they’re nearly identical), and of course her baby, Moby. Ruby may be much smaller than her son Moby now, but they still spend every day together. This little family loves their lives and that brings us so much joy. Ruby loves attention from visitors and caregivers and she’s often the first goat to greet you at the fence line, asking for head scratches (or maybe a snack?).
