New sheep just arrived at Woodstock Farm Sanctuary after months out in the cold winter weather. Meet Thelma and Louise!

We always talk about how important our volunteers are, and we mean it! What may seem like a small act makes a big impact on the success of sanctuaries like ours.

Olive came to Woodstock Farm Sanctuary in 2011 after being spotted running along Route 28, not far from our old location just outside Woodstock, NY. She was reported to the police and SPCA, who called us to help. It turns out that someone had taken in Olive because she was the runt of a litter, but she liked to escape this person’s place often and they could not keep her safely contained.

Sanctuary work is cyclical. We work outside in all seasons and mark their passing with changes to our caretaking regimens and facilities upkeep. We bring out the snowplow or put it away. We stock up on more hay or work on pasture rotation for fresh grass.

One of the reasons pygmy hippos are endangered in the wild is because they are illegally hunted — is the spectacle of Moo Deng helping to keep these animals safe?

We are re-launching our petition to shut down the Dairy Cow Birthing Center at the New York State Fair, and have big plans for the fall to continue our fight.
